• Unrestricted/Community Fund
  This fund awards grants to local registered charities

• Designated funds
  This fund directs the donor’s income in perpetuity to one or more charities he/she identifies

• Operating Endowment Funds
  Donations go toward the operation of the Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador

• Scholarship Fund
  The donor sets up a scholarship or scholarships in his/her name or the name of somebody else

• Donor-advised Funds
  The donor advises which charities are to receive funds

• Field of Interest Funds
  Donations go to specific fields of interest i.e. animal welfare; arts and culture; health; heritage; children and families; education; environment; poverty; recreation; seniors or youth

• Charitable Organization Endowment
  The Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador will create and administer these funds on behalf of registered charities

• Flow-through funds
  This fund involved the receipt and disbursement of gifts that are not intended as endowment funds because the donor wants the full amount of the gift available immediately

The above funds can include:

Named funds – donors, or whoever the donor designates, can be recognized

Open funds – contributions can be made by anybody

Closed funds – contributions can only be made by the donor or member of his/her family

Start-up funds – if a donor does not have a minimum amount ($5,000 or $10,000), he/she can contribute $1,000 and the remainder over 5/10 years
