The Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador has many different types of funds.
- Designated funds
This fund directs the donor’s income in perpetuity to one or more charities he/she identifies - Scholarship Fund
The donor sets up a scholarship or scholarships in his/her name or the name of somebody else - Field of Interest Funds
Donations go to specific fields of interest i.e. animal welfare; arts and culture; health; heritage; children and families; education; environment; poverty; recreation; seniors or youth - Flow-through funds
This fund involved the receipt and disbursement of gifts that are not intended as endowment funds because the donor wants the full amount of the gift available immediately The above funds can include: Named funds – donors, or whoever the donor designates, can be recognized Open funds – contributions can be made by anybody Closed funds – contributions can only be made by the donor or member of his/her family Start-up funds – if a donor does not have a minimum amount ($5,000 or $10,000), he/she can contribute $1,000 and the remainder over 5/10 years
